Arts Immersion Day

Four Johnson Creek students were selected to attend the Arts Immersion Day held at UW-Whitewater. Neva Semo, Wayne Dunn, Arlena Segura, and Brad “Jay” Pitzner participated in workshops about stage make-up, acting do’s and don’ts, and they toured the art exhibit on display. These students have talents in the arts and will take what they learned to new levels. “Inspecting Carol”, a satirical play, written by Daniel Sullivan was the highlight of the day. The entire day was organized by the Whitewater TAG network.

These girls were selected to attend the Middle Level Leadership Conference at UW-Whitewater. James Arden, a mime, performed various skits to encourage today’s youth leaders to stand up for what is right and to stand up for those who are afraid to stand up for themselves. He stressed the importance of making school a comfortable place for all students. The girls participated in team building activities with other students from over 10 different schools. They also reflected on various social situations presented to them during James Arden’s performance. Afterwards, the students toured the UW campus.

Art Club goes to Minneaplis

Last Thursday 40 Art Club Members went on an over night trip to Minneapolis. We first stopped at the Minneapolis Art Museum were we spent two hours looking at art work from China to art work from Brazil. Then we made our way over to the Walker Art Center. We first walked around the outside sculptors then made our way inside. The Walker Art Center is full of contemporary art. After our walks through the museum and art center we were on our way to get a tour of the Minneapolis Institute of Art. This is a very great college to go to and study art. They gave us a very great tour of the whole building and what we would do if we went there. Later we went to the Global Market were we got a chance to eat different types of food and look at clothes from other cultures. We then went to the hotel for the night were kids had the options to swim, play in the arcade, or just chill in their rooms. We had pizza as a group together then went to bed. Friday morning we went to Cathedral of Saint Paul and had a wonderful tour. Then we went right across the street to the Minnesota State Capitol. We went there and got to compare their capitol to ours. Then we went to the Mall of America were we got to eat and shop. The trip was alot of fun and we learned lots of different things.
